The "Online Indexing of Srimadbhagavadgita" was completed as part of "Multimedia E- Book of Srimadbhagavadgita: With Special Reference to Chapter 1" M.Phil. research submitted to Special Center for Sanskrit Studies, JNU in 2013 by Devendra Singh Rajput (M.Phil 2011-13) under the supervision of Dr. Girish Nath Jha. This e-book uses Geeta Press Gorakhpur's popular edition of Bhagvadgeeta to create a searchable database so that our younger generation as well as researchers can benefit from this important text of India's intellectual tradition. So far we have completed only the first chapter, but plan to add the remaining content with animation soon. We have also developed a Sanskrit TTS (text reader software) which is going to be connected to Geeta with animation soon to attract younger generation to India's tradition and culture. The coding for the application was done by Ms. Bhawna Hans. The Bhagavad Gita Sketches are designed by Ms. Saumya Mishra.
This web-application has been developed using Java servlets on Apache Tomcat and RDBMS techniques using MS SQL server 2005 in unicode. The application allows three kinds of searches -
Direct Search - user can enter key word in utf-8 and get all the references and details from Srimadbhagavadgita.
Alphabetical search - user can click on a Devanagari alphabet to get the index of words beginning with that alphabet.
Search by the structure of the text - user can click on "Adhyay" > "Shloka's > Details" to get the index
Clicking on an indexed word will display the details for that word and also a facility to search that word in some other online lexical resources
