Ayurveda Search (आयुर्वेद अण्वेषण)
Ayurveda is one of the oldest science of medicine and health form India dating back to the age of Vedas. The tradition of Ayurveda has had a unbroken tradition of approximately 4000 years of continuous intellectual activity in the form of primary and ancillary texts, dictionaries and glossaries. The three most important texts are the Caraka Samhita (चरक-संहिता) by Caraka for Surgery and the Susruta Samhita (सुश्रुत-संहिता) by Sushruta for medicine and Ashtanga Hrdayam (अष्टांग-हृदयम्) by Vagbhata which includes most major areas (medicine, surgery, gynaecology, pediatrics, rejuvenation, aphrodisiacs, toxicology and psychiatry/spiritual healing). We have digitized Caraka and Susruta samhitas and created a glossary of Bhavprakash Nighantu (भावप्रकाश-निघण्टु), some Ayurvedic herbs and the Amarakosha which has a section on herbs. Besides these, as part of a collaboration with the Center of Indic Studies, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMASSD) , we have translated two very important texts in the area of rasayana-shastra and have started lab experiments on some metals in the chemistry labs of UMASSD
